has a population of 36.1 million (2006). Over 80% of the population is literate with huge skilled and professional human resource. EDUCATION: Kenya's education system consists of early childhood
education, primary school, secondary school and college or university. There are public and private schools at all levels
of education. In addition, there are well known International schools that cater to the diverse and multi-national community
in Kenya.
The total enrollment of pupils in primary schools as at the end of 2006 was 7.63 million, 1.03 million
in secondary schools and 91,337 students in public universities. The
country has 7 public universities and 9 private universities and is now the leading supplier of international students in
the American market.
KENYA HIGHLIGHTS: Kenya achieved independence from British colonization in 1963 and celebrates Independence Day on
December 12. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west,

Kenya is also a centre for international conferencing and is a member of UN, AU, EAC, COMESA,
ACP, Non Aligned Movement, and WTO among others. It hosts the only UN headquarters outside New York, Geneva and Vienna i.e
UNEP and Habitat and is also a regional headquarters for numerous international NGO Agencies as well as the largest media
houses and international correspondents. It also hosts regional offices of World Bank, IMF, IFC, WHO, UNDP, UNHCR, UNESCO,
East African Development Bank, Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (PTA Bank) among others. Regional
services hub for telecommunications, banks, medical related services, education etc and emerging centre for call centres.
Kenya hosts a regional air traffic and transit hub providing connections to most destinations in Africa, Europe, Asia
and beyond. Enjoys political stability in a relatively conflict prone neighborhood and provides leadership in peace negotiations
process and mediations in Somalia and Sudan.

Kenya enjoys a tropical climate, with an annual average temperature of 75 degrees F. While there is a lot of rain
between the months of March and May, the temperatures do remain high throughout.
